Why am I so tired? Am I really hungry again? Which crib would be best? Was that a trickle? Wasn’t morning sickness supposed to happen in the morning?
If these are some of the many, many, many questions you’ve asked yourself lately, then you’re probably a new and expecting Mama Bear like me and let me just tell you, you’re not alone. I share your nervousness; I feel your struggle and rest assured that if you asked yourself if that was a trickle, it most likely was!
Hi there! My name is Erika and I am a first time blooming Mama Bear just like you. After three years of fighting an uphill battle with that pesky monster we all know as infertility, my husband and I are now eagerly awaiting the arrival of our little boy!
But before I dive into the reason why you and I are now friends, let me tell you about life before picking out baby names and sleepless nights (oh how I miss catching those zzzzzz!)
I was an Assistant Teacher for 10 years up until August of 2016. In that time I cared for children ages 3 months to 5 years old and absolutely L O V E D every day of it! Yes, there were days when a Lego to the face or a 30-minute toddler meltdown had me second-guessing my choices BUT it was those small challenging moments that taught me all I know today.
Ten years of being in a classroom provided me with countless ways to encourage children to truly tap into their natural creativity and assist them in growing into who they will be in the future.
Now as a first-time mom, boy am I learning what it’s like to be on this side of the fence! From 8:30 in the morning to 2:30 in the afternoon, I lived on auto teaching. Sheesh how those hours have expanded! Being a mom is a full-time, no days off, can’t call in sick, no such thing as sleeping in job and my little guy isn’t even here yet!
Cue in the bloom! So, here we are! Blooming Mama Bears who are giving this gift of a job everything they’ve got while learning along the way. There’s no manual (trust me I’ve googled for hours searching for it!) that helps us master every step of the way when being a Mom because there’s just no such thing as mastering motherhood.
If you’re a first time Mama Bear, I’m right there with you and I’m so EXCITED to share with you what I’ve learned as a childcare provider. I’m even more excited to bloom along with you on this journey that we are on.
If you’re a seasoned Mama Bear, I’m standing at my desk saluting you (no kidding) and I look forward to learning from you.
Blooming Mama Bears is a place where we Mamas can support, learn from and cheer each other on and if you’ve made it all the way down here, THANK YOU and WELCOME to the Mama Bear club!
